Land Command Support System Program (LCSS)

In 2001, as a follow-on to the TCCCS Iris Program and the LFCS Athene Project, GD Canada was awarded a short term (5 years) support contract for Land Command Support System (LCSS) by the DND. The purpose of the LCSS Program is to provide continued support on these two programs as they are fielded and put into use as the basis for the Canadian Army's C3 systems. It was felt that the equipment and systems must be supported effectively:
- at the hardware/software item level
- at the vehicle subsystem level
- as an integrated system of systems
Under the LCSS Program, GD Canada provides highly effective and efficient in-service support including all engineering services, Repair & Overhaul, and engineering. As the prime contractor for both programs, GD Canada has invaluable experience and in-depth expertise in developing, fielding, and supporting the Iris and Athene Systems during this critical phase of the Iris/Athene system life cycle.
The Canadian Army plans a new system release of functionality every 18 months for the LCSS to ensure that obsolescence issues, updates to fielded capability and new capabilities are effectively catered for in the fielded system.
