GD Canada has helped to enhance the US and international M1A1 fleets by replacing obsolete Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) with reliable, more compact, digital versions, while maintaining connectors and physical mounting locations. We have provided over 30 years of continuous support for this platform and fielded 5 LRUs.
The Redesigned Turret Networks Box (RTNB), Redesigned Hull Networks Box (RHNB) and Upgraded Tank Commander’s Panel (UTCP) are the latest examples of successful Horizontal Technology Insertion. They not only address the problem of system obsolescence but also provide significantly increased functionality, contributing to the extension of the M1A1 service life-cycle. Developments continue in major vehicle sustainment areas, including turret power, signal distribution, and fire control consolidation.
