Vetronics Engineering
GD Canada is the premiere systems integrator for Land systems in Canada. In addition to work in communications, GD Canada has extensive experience in the development and integration of mission equipment packages for combat vehicles. With a focus on reconnaissance systems, GD Canada has developed the Coyote Reconnaissance vehicle which is still the best after being deployed around the world in 1996. GD Canada followed this with the development of the Reconnaissance, Surveillance, Targeting Vehicle for the US Marine Corps. Work in this area continues with the development of a next generation prototype of the Coyote Vehicle based on modern COTS equipment. This open architecture solution characterizes GD Canada 's forward-looking approach to systems design to allow both flexibility, future growth and to limit the effects of obsolescence.
GD Canada is also Canada's leading vehicle crew station expert, with a full, 6 axis motion simulator to allow the realistic evaluation of modern combat vehicle crew station design. This expertise led to GD Canada working on the US Future Combat System Common Crew Station Design as well as defining the requirements for the Canadian Multi-Mission Effects Vehicle. GD Canada has been very active with Defence Research and Development Canada to define future requirements for land systems including the Future Armoured Vehicle System Technology Demonstration Program (TDP), the Multi-Mission Virtual Vehicle TDP, the Advanced, Linked, Extended Reconnaissance TDP. GD Canada has assisted GD UK in the Future Rapid Effects System Electronic Architecture definition, and is currently working with MOWAG on defining a coordinated hardware / software architecture for modern combat vehicles.
